Guns N'
Roses Announce First North American Tour Since 1993
BOSTON,
Sept. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Guns N' Roses originally exploded onto
the music scene in 1985 with their own ferocious brand of rock n'
roll. They were riding a wave of frenzied musical energy, extreme
behavior, and thrilling live performances led by the sheer force
of nature that was, is and continues to be the legendary W. Axl
Rose. In the process they have sold more than 80 million records.
And now, they return with the "Chinese Democracy" World Tour,
their first full tour since 1993
North America
will be the setting for the World Premiere of GN'R's full-bang,
high-octane "Chinese Democracy" world tour production. Fans will
witness the sonic assault of the 'Guns N' Roses experience', that
will feature a mixture of classic GN'R songs and new material from
their forthcoming album.
Nearly nine years
have passed since Guns N' Roses embarked on their last world tour.
Fortunately, the most important piece is still in place and for
people wondering where Axl Rose has been, he's been busy writing
and recording a new album, "Chinese Democracy", that promises to
surpass all of his previous efforts. Keyboard player Dizzy Reed
has been in GN'R since 1991 and along with Axl is the holdover
from the band's previous line-up. New to the fold are three
guitarists: Robin Finck, formerly of Nine Inch Nails, guitar
phenomenon Buckethead, and Richard Fortus. Rounding out the
all-star line-up is bassist Tommy Stinson from The Replacements, a
second keyboard player Chris Pitman, and Brian "Brain" Mantia
formerly of Primus on drums.
The band are
fresh from the first six dates of the "Chinese Democracy" World
Tour in China, Japan, Europe, and the U.K., where they set
attendance and merchandise records at Tokyo (Chiba Marine
Stadium-35,000 plus), Osaka (WTC Stadium-25,000 plus) and Leeds
(Leeds Festival-52,000 plus), as well as their explosive and much
talked-about appearance at this year's MTV Video Music Awards in
New York last month.
Following the
launch of the World Tour in China, fans flooded the online website
of England's New Musical Express with hundreds of messages
enthusing about the gig, including the following:
"I've just
witnessed some kind of phenomenon, the most intense and remarkable
two hours of my life. I have been to countless gigs but never
before have I been so totally overwhelmed and engulfed by such an
awesome performance as tonight. This band is going to take the
world by storm, they are simply amazing. As musicians, there is no
band ever that has the talent of this one, and as for charisma
every member is a superstar.
"The highlight
for me though was Mr. Axl Rose. He looked young and healthy and
his voice was stunning, he will go down in history as the greatest
frontman ever, he was totally awesome and should be commended."
Prior to the
band's performance in China, W. Axl Rose conducted a brief
interview with the band's official website
http://www.gnronline.comand was asked how he felt about
speculation as to whether or not Guns N' Roses would actually be
performing. His reply was as follows:
"To the ones who
are negative and want to see either myself or the new band fall on
their faces, personally I can't pass up an opportunity to upset so
many of them in one quick swoop. I get misty-eyed just thinking
about it. I feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside! But seriously
... this is our tour. This is a collection of performances I've
agreed to. That I have personally authorized not someone else's
good intentions gone awry or a reckless promoter's personal
agenda. These shows are important to us and for better or worse
we'll be there. For those who've had my back and are down by us
with even a modicum of understanding we hope to give you our best,
and look forward to seeing you on this little intro jaunt."
Axl and Guns N'
Roses gave their best and delivered big time for the people of
China, Japan, Europe, and the U.K.

Chinese Democracy Release
Date Rumour
Yet
another release date speculation.Word is around the net that Chinese
Democracy now has a release date of 10th December.
This
is picked frfom the message board on bucketheads off. website:
GUNS N' ROSES are rumored to have set
December 10th (December 9th in Europe) as the release date of their
long-awaited new album, Chinese Democracy, through Interscope/Geffen
Records.
If the unconfirmed reports are to be believed, the album's first
single, ''Catcher In The Rye'', is scheduled to surface on November
25th with an accompanying video to be filmed in the next four weeks
prior to the start of the band's U.S. tour, which is said to have a
late October kick-off date.
Chinese Democracy will reportedly contain 18 tracks, including three
of the four new songs aired during the band's recent live performances
— ''Madagascar'', ''Chinese Democracy'' and ''The Blues''. The latter
cut is also said to have been tentatively tapped as the album's second
single, to be released sometime in early 2003.
Among the tracks reportedly set for inclusion on Chinese Democracy are
the following:
01. Catcher In The Rye
02. This I Love
03. I.R.S.
04. Oklahoma
05. There Was A Time
06. Prostitute
07. Madagascar
08. Chinese Democracy
09. The Blues
A full track listing for Chinese Democracy is reportedly not yet
available. However, it is believed that the song ''Rhiad And The
Bedouins'' — which was performed during some of the band's recent
European dates — will not appear on the final CD.
As previously mentioned, plans exist for a 10-track bonus CD to be
included with the main album. GUNS N' ROSES' follow-up release, which
has already been fully recorded, is expected to surface in
early-to-mid 2004.
At
the Pukkelpop Fest Show in Belgium ,Axl did reveal to the crowd
that chinese democracy will have 18 tracks on it.And some of the new
songs that GN"R have performed recently might not be on
the album.

Axl Rose may have declared "Round One"
at Guns n' Roses' recent performance at the MTV Video
Music Awards, but Slash is getting ready for Round Two. "I'm doing a
fucking record with me, [bassist] Duff [McKagan] and [drummer] Matt
Sorum," the former Gn'R guitarist said this past weekend at the San
Diego Street
Scene festival, where he was on hand to pay tribute to Jimi Hendrix.
"Dave Pusher is playing guitar right now, and we got the baddest
fucking, be-all, end-all rock & roll band."
The as-yet-unnamed band
("If I had a name, I'd tell you," Slash says) is now in the process of
looking for just the right vocalist to perfect the ensemble. "There
are no rock & roll singers out there right now, and you know it as
well as I do, except for the guys who have been around a long time,"
he says. "As far as new bands, there's not one. If I knew one, I
probably would've stolen him by now.
"When Billy Idol goes
ballistic, that's the kind of singer I want all the time," Slash
continues. "There's nobody I've listened to since before Guns came out
or anytime in the Eighties who's been like that, except for Billy.
He's one guy who when he belts it out would be good at it."
As for being selective
about rounding out the band with a vocalist, Slash needs to be choosy
if he hopes to achieve his lofty ambitions. "I want to be the guy who
spearheads the next rock & roll movement; I've done it before, so I
want to do it again."
In the meantime, Slash
and wife Perla are happy being parents. "We just had a baby ten days
ago," he says proudly. "His name's London, nine pounds, four ounces.
He's only ten days old, but he's got a cool personality . . . This is
the first time I've been away from home since he was born, so I've
called home like six times. And as soon as the gig is done, I'm going
home."

Guns N' Roses Rock The VMAs
Fri Aug 30, 6:57 AM ET
(8/30/02,
2 a.m. ET) --
Guns N' Roses was a surprise performer at Thursday's (August
29) Video Music Awards. Fresh from playing shows in China and England,
the
Axl Rose-fronted band closed the nearly three-and-a-half-hour
show with a long medley that began with "Welcome To The Jungle," went
to an unnamed new song, and finished with the outro to "Paradise
City," complete with dueling twin lead guitars from
Buckethead and
Robin Finck and a storm of confetti.
Speaking with MTV's Kurt Loder
after his performance, Rose said the group was going back to the
studio to continue work on it's next album, Chinese Democracy,
and that it would be released only after Guns N' Roses kicks off the
American leg of its world tour.
Rose also explained that it's taking so
long to record the album and tour because he's trying to rebuild the
once-great band with a new group of players, something that has never
been attempted before. "How do you rebuild something that got so big?
And how do you make a whole bunch a guys that were something else into
something that already was. I don't know if it's exactly been done
like this, and not with the intensity of these players wanting to play
the material."
Axl Rose Says GN'R Waiting Game Won't End
Soon
Reclusive frontman also promises an American
tour.
By Robert Mancini

Axl Rose brought Guns N' Roses back to the MTV
Video Music Awards Thursday night for the first time in 10 years,
but the frontman indicated that the wait for a new album from the
band will continue.
"You'll see [the album], but I don't know
if 'soon'
is the word," Rose explained to MTV News immediately after unveiling
the current GN'R lineup to an American television audience for the
first time.
"It will come out, and we'll do some more recording and start the
American leg of the tour," he promised.
Thursday night's VMA performance marked GN'R's first since 1992,
when the band performed "November Rain" with Elton John (see
"Guns N'
Roses Cap Night Of Spectacles From Diddy, Eminem, Timberlake").
The band remained largely off the map in the decade that followed,
shedding members and bringing in fresh blood. Axl and his current
lineup — which includes drummer Brian "Brain" Mantia, former
Replacements bassist Tommy Stinson and guitarists Buckethead and
Robin Finck — have been working on an album, Chinese Democracy,
for years.
"How do you make a whole bunch of guys into something that already
was, and with this intensity of these players wanting to play this
material?" Rose said of the delay.
So while Guns N' Roses may be back on the airwaves, they may not be
back in record stores any time soon.

Rose warns no new G N' R material for a while

Axl Rose has warned Guns N' Roses fans
they're still going to have a long wait for the band's new album.
The band have recently reformed, with
comeback gigs including the Leeds Festival and the MTV Video Music
Awards.
But Rose says fans shouldn't hold their
breath for new material.
"You'll see the album, but I don't know
if 'soon' is the word," Rose told
MTV.
"It will come out, and we'll do some
more recording and start the American leg of the tour."

Chinese
Democracy Release Date Sep 2?
Does Chinese Democracy have a
release date yet?After reports (
like this one ) that the album has a release date of Sep 2,
launch.com says that the bands management and record company have told
that they're no more than rumors.
src:launch.com
Guns N' Roses' record company and management has told LAUNCH
that rumors that the band's forthcoming album, Chinese Democracy,
was to be released Labor Day weekend are untrue. A spokesperson for
Interscope/Geffen spoke to the band's management, who replied to the
unsubstantiated rumor, "Where are they getting this from?"
The report of the Labor
Day release surfaced as part of the Drudge Report on Monday
(June 24). Guns N' Roses' last studio album was a covers album,
The Spaghetti Incident?, which was released in 1993. The last
original song that hit radio was "Oh My God," which appeared on the
soundtrack to the movie End Of Days in 1999.
Guns N' Roses
Expand World Tour; Nixes North American Trek?
cdnow.com says
that GNR will go to Indonesia and Australia as well.
It doesn't look like
Guns N' Roses will be touring North America in September after
all. According to a report out of Indonesia, the band will be
performing there in late September, following a tour of Australia.
Indonesian promoter Tommy Pratama told
the local digital publication Detikcom that he's had to
reschedule the concert three times, from Sept. 7 to Sept. 13 to the
current date of Sept. 29, but he is optimistic the booking is now
firm.
He noted that the group was expected to
be in Australia Sept. 11-25, and in Korea on the 27th. The popular
rumor had been that a U.S. tour would be kicking off Sept. 2.
The band had already announced dates in
Hong Kong, Japan, Belgium, and the U.K. from mid- to late-August (allstar,
July 16).

opinion of the best guitarists - these guys might not be 'cool' by any
music critic's viewpoint, but they genuinely are the fastest, loudest,
most exciting players in rock and roll."
Here is the same news from HTtabloid.com.
Psychedelic guitarist Jimi
Hendrix has been voted the instrument's greatest player in a poll
conducted by Total Guitar magazine.
Hendrix, who died in 1970 at the age of
27, beat Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page to the top spot in the poll of the
magazine's readers.
Hendrix made his name in the late 1960s, with classics like
"Purple Haze,'' "Hey Joe'' and "Voodoo Chile.'' Blues
veteran Eric Clapton came in third, followed by Slash from Guns N'
Roses and Brian May of Queen.
Younger talents also made the
top 100, including Jonny Greenwood of Radiohead at 35 and
